Renewal from Ashes
Renewal from Ashes is a visual interpretation of the burning, refining, and reviving that takes place during seasons of transition.
This illustration depicts the husk and ashes of the old phoenix below, with a renewed and vibrant phoenix rising upward, surrounded by gently twirling embers. The phoenix represents individuals who are in the process of transition — where God burns away old habits, mindsets, and strongholds to reveal a renewed and refined version of who they are becoming.
Inspired by Isaiah 61:3, this piece incorporates layered symbolism throughout the design. The crest and crown of roses reference “beauty for ashes” and “oaks of righteousness,” while the phoenix’s S-shaped silhouette reflects the movement of a dancer, symbolizing the “garment of praise.” The scripture itself is subtly hidden within the flowing embers, representing how God’s presence is often recognized most clearly in hindsight.
This artwork serves as a reminder that even in seasons of burning and change, God remains present — guiding, refining, and restoring.
